What to prepare before a website project

Bring the business context and useful existing material. The scope settles the rest.

You can start with a few lines about the business and what you want to change. You do not need to write the finished website copy before getting in touch. Useful context gives us a better place to start.

Explain the work you want more of

Tell me what you sell, who usually buys it and which enquiries are useful. Include the questions people ask before deciding. For a product brand, that might be product choice and buying information. For a specialist business, it might be the service, job type and area covered.

Bring what is already working

  • The current website and any pages customers regularly use.
  • Existing copy, brand files and photographs you want to keep.
  • Approved reviews, completed projects and other evidence you can show.
  • Examples you like, with a short explanation of what you like about them.

Flag missing or unapproved material. If a customer quote or photograph needs permission, say so. We can agree how to handle it in the scope rather than treating it as ready to publish.

Identify the people and accounts

Name the person who will check accuracy and gather feedback. List the domain, website, email and connected accounts you know about, and who currently manages them. We arrange the access actually needed through invitations. Do not send passwords.

Be clear about timing and budget

If there is a deadline, explain what depends on it. The £3,000 website foundation includes positioning, copy, design and up to six core pages, with one customer case study, search foundations and enquiry tracking. Store features, integrations and additional work need an explicit scope.

We agree the dates, content, access and review points before starting. The project stages show your responsibilities alongside mine. A smaller improvement can be scoped separately.

Start with what you know

A clear brief can go straight to a proposed scope. When the priority needs working through, £75 discovery is one hour with me and a short written next step within two working days of the session.

Send the current site, the change you want and any real deadline. The optional brief helper on the enquiry form can help you put those details into words.

Discuss the website.

Tell me about the business, your current site and what needs to change. A clear brief can go straight to an agreed project scope.

Analytics choices

Optional Google Analytics helps me understand which pages and enquiry steps are useful. It stays off unless you allow it. Your enquiry works either way.

With your permission, Google receives page visits and enquiry events and uses analytics cookies for up to 90 days. Your name, email and message are excluded. Advertising features are off. You can change your choice here at any time.
